As you know, FBC has been sending teams to Haiti for a several years. We are terribly grieved over the recent tragedy. We are distressed that one of the 2 pastors with whom we have worked appears to have been lost – we still pray otherwise. You may also know that FBC has partnered with Global Operations Division International Services. They have prepared a number of us to be first responders in times of tragedy. GOD-IS is gearing up to aid in Haiti. We would encourage you to participate. As of today, there is a truck parked at 1413 West Loop 281 (Longview) half way between Gilmer Road and Bill Owens. It should be marked by a banner. They want to fill that truck up and ship it to Haiti along with a team of medical professionals. You can stop by the manned truck and donate any of the following.
Non perishable food items / Canned Goods (especially pop tops) Water, PowerAde, Gatorade, juices, especially the individual small boxes with straws Medical supplies Sleeping bags Flashlights, batteries clothes Shoes Toiletries (toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand sanitizer, soap, lotions, etc.) Towels and wash clothes Flat sheets Light blankets Candles tarps bug repellent CASH!!!!
OR you may want to make a cash donation to the Hospital through which our missionary James Arbaugh works. The surgeons there are working 24 x 7. There is a link where you could do this online if you wish. www.hashaiti.org
If you are a medical professional and have a passport and would like to go to Haiti. Please contact the office and we can put you in contact with the right folks.
ALSO: It is likely that we will be designating Sunday Jan. 31st as the day that we will take up an offering for Haiti Relief. Please keep that in mind.
Your prayers are critically important. There are still finding survivors in the rubble. Also God is at work in hearts. Jim Vance reports that his mission board has a presence in Haiti and are finding that scores of people are genuinely turning to Christ.
God bless you for your gifts and your prayers. May Haiti be a much better place because of it!
